The filing deadline for your 2024 taxes is rapidly approaching. If you made energy-efficient HVAC upgrades in 2024, now is the time to claim your federal tax credit. To ensure you’re getting the full tax benefits when filing your 2024 return see the rest of the blog.

Did you make a qualifying HVAC Upgrade in 2024?

If you installed an energy-efficient HVAC system or, heat pump last year, you may be eligible for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, which offers:

  • Up to $600 for qualifying air conditioners
  • Up to $2,000 for qualifying heat pumps

To qualify, your system must meet Energy Star efficiency standards and have been installed in your primary residence during 2024.

How to Claim Your HVAC Tax Credit

    • Any rebate documentation from local energy companies (For Phoenix residences SRP or APS)

  1. File IRS Form 5695 Part II
    • This form is used to claim Residential Energy Credits
    • Enter the cost of your HVAC system and calculate your eligible tax credit
    • If you use tax software, search for Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit and include your information
    • If filing with a professional, bring your receipts and certification statement
